My son and I visited the Menin Gate on June 10/11, 2011. We were accompanied by several current and former members of my son's Regiment, The Queen's Own Rifles. My Grandfather, Herbert James Green served in the 3rd Battalion and was killed in 1915 at the battle of St. Julien. He is one of the Unknown soldiers whose name is engraved on the wall. It was a cloudy and overcast day when we visited and just as we found his name on the wall, the sun broke through the clouds and lit up the panel where his name is engraved. It was an incredibly emotional event. As we are the first of his relatives to ever visit the monument, we took at as a sign that our visit was noticed. The following night, my son and I had the honour of placing a wreath on behalf of the Queen's Own Rifles during the nightly ceremony. It was truly an honour to participate and a moment that we will never forget.

As members of Brymbo Male Choir we were proud and priveleged to be part of the Last Post Ceremony on the 29th May 2013 by singing two songs as a tribute to the fallen of The Great War. Our Chairman Gwilym Hughes and two choristers felt honoured to be allowed to lay a wreath. This was our second attendance at this moving ceremony and we feel a close bond with the Association

Ik heb met familie op 28 /5/2013 de Last Post meegemaakt, zeer ingetogen en met het besef dat duizenden hun leven gegeven hebben. Ik hoop dat dit voor altijd kan blijven en ik heb veel respect voor de mensen die dit mogelijk maken. Mijn grootvader was bij het 1 ste regiment Jager te voet en was gelegerd in Kaaskerke (Diksmuide) vandaar mijn medegevoelens. Bedankt.

On 4th August 2014 myself & others will be completing a charity walk from the Somme. This day 100 years since the UK joined the Great war we will be paying our respects as many have done before & if we leave without a tear in our eye it will be a first. Thank you.

Many thanks for allowing the Iceni Chapter, of the Widows Sons Masonic Bikers Association from the UK to lay their wreath on Saturday 4th May 2013, personally as an ex serviceman, it was the most moving moment of my life.  All members of the Iceni Chapter that attended were moved by the Dedication of the Last Post Association in ensuring this tradition carries on, please keep up the good work as we approach the 100th year since the start of WW1. We Will Not Forget Them.

Commentaar I have been reading the website of the Last Post Association, with immense interest.

I am extremely elated by the religious significance of The Last Post.

As a practicing Roman Catholic, I possess tremendous respect for the deceased.

I offer up Masses and prayers for the souls of all the deceased.

My prayer is that God will give all deceased people eternal happiness, life, and peace, in Heaven.
