I attended the Last Post ceremony on the 22 and 23 April 2011 and was very moved by it. Mr Joe Madeley, Australian World War 2 veteran and President of the Rats of Tobruk Association, NSW was afforded the honour of reciting The Ode at the ceremony on 22 April 2011 and I know that he both honoured and humbled by this gesture. He was on a tour of the WW1 battlefields to see where his father had fought.

Commentaar On Sunday 1st May we had the honour to take part in the Last Post Ceremony for the third time. It is a humbling experience not just for those people participating but also for the great number of people who watch this very moving and poignant ceremony. The members of the band which includes many young people were, once again, reminded of the great sacrifice made by so many young servicemen and women all those years ago for the freedom that we so naturally take for granted. Most of the band members will have ancestors who fought in this conflict and each will continue to remember their participation. We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the people of Flanders/Belgium for their continued homage to these fallen men and also thank the Last Post Association for their continued work.

Having brought school groups to Ypres in 2009 and 2010 (when we had the honour to lay a wreath), I brought my family last week. We attended the Last Post Ceremony every night for 4 nights. My father-in-law (whose uncle is remembered at Tyne Cot) was especially moved; but so was my 9 year old son. Thank you.
Three Old Boys of my school (then the Carlisle Grammar School) are remembered on the Menin Gate: James Robert Caird of the King's Own Scottish Borderers; Hugh Richard Hyndman-Jones of the 22nd Australian Imperial Forces; and John Mitchell Lee of the Border Regiment. Anyone interested please see www.trinity.cumbria.sch.uk/warmem

I think it would be a great idea if you install a live-cam under the Menin Gate, so people all over the world could follow the Last Post ceremony on a daily basis. I think it even increases the amount of visitors who will visit Ieper. We ourselves have followed the ceremony 5 times and we feel very committed with The Last Post Association. Lots of success and thanks for your respectful and impressive honour of those who fought for our freedom during the first worldwar.

Commentaar Just discovered a few weeks ago via the internet that my great uncle,James A Sloss, was killed on 17th March 1915 at the age of 28. I would dearly love to pay a visit either to the tattoo or any other memorial. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Ypres for the continued respect they show to the dead via the Last Post each evening. God Bless each and everyone of you.

We had the honour and priviledge to participate in this ceremony on the 4th September 2010 and it was a humbling experience to us all. We have been invited back to the town of Leper over Easter this Year and are looking forward to trip once more. My Greatgrandfather fought in the Somme offensive and lost his brother on the 1st July 1916 as part of 36th Ulster Division so I personally found the Ceremony very touching.

I had the privilege to attend the the last post ceremony and lay a wreath with members of the public services department of our lady's high school Oldham and felt greatly humbled and honoured by the occasion. We should all be thankful to people of this fine town that every evening they honour the fallen in such a solemn manner. Thank you.
