Visited Ieper on 25th & 26th Sept. (my 5th visit). I never fail to be impressed by the moving ceremony. My father served in Ieper in 1917 (with RASC) and survived. The Menin gate is a very special place.

Wij waren op de 1° Ypres Memorial Tattoo. Proficiat aan de organisatoren en de muzikanten ... het was prachtig. Hopelijk komt er een 2de Tattoo volgend jaar en wij zullen dan ZEKER van de partij zijn.

Well we came from Melbourne to experience this wonderful event. In some small way, we honor the men and women, who honor the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the several battles for Ypres. To know that this tribute has been carried out every night without fail since 1928 is truely amazing. The only interruption was during WW2. Talking to locals we found out that even as the allied forces had retaken Ypres, but the situation was not entirely safe, a lone buglar, regardless of the risk, went out and played the ceremony on his own 5 times in a row ... once for each year of the occupation. Honor, respect and admiration. Lest We Forget.

Attended the Last Post service on 21 September 2010 and deeply moved. My Grandfather's brother George Morss (Kings Royal Rifle Corps) is remembered at Tyne Cot. He is recorded as one of the missing from the fighting on 20th September 1917, but the service at the Menin Gate is worthy of all who died at Ypres. Thank you.

Found my great uncle David Leslie on plaque 40. Poor boy was only 17. Told all the family of your great tribute every night. Thank you very much. It is very moving.

I found your website via Wikipedia. I am touched and moved by the photos posted for the various ceremonies! And I am looking forward to visiting Ypres on 10-13 November, and attending the Last Post ceremony.

I visited ypres and the menin gate in March of 2010 to lay a wreath at Tyne Cot cemetery in memory of my great uncle John Deakin who was killed in action on October 22nd 1917. It took me many months to find out where John was laid to rest, he was one of the many missing, and his name is inscribed on the memorial wall. For me it was an emotional visit, to see the thousands of war graves. We must never forget those who we have lost, those who fought and came back, and those who are still fighting for their country. God bless them all, and thank you to the people of Ypres who have never forgotten.
