Commentaar I was privileged to attend the last post ceremony on 8th July whilst visited the area with my wife to visit the grave and the area where her grandfather died in 1917.
The ceremony was particularly moving as I had not expected quite so many people attending, but it was made special by so many young people from English and local schools taking part on that day. The reciting of the exhortation by a young Northern English lad brought a huge lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.
It was pleasing to know that so many young people of today were still remembering those of so many generations before them who sacrificed their lives; that they in time will pass on this message to their own children who in turn will also remember them. Also let us hope they never have to experience such conflict.

Commentaar The band performed at the ceremony on 30 6 09 and we were grateful to take part and not just march and play hymns but also to lay two wreaths on behalf of the band members who fought and also those men of newry who fought ,it was a humbling experience for me to see all the names and respect the men who have honoured those men every day since the ceremony started thank you

Commentaar We attended the ceremony on Saturday June 13th and 2 of our pupils had the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of the school and the Huntly Ex-Servicemen's Club. I felt great pride in their dignity whilst laying the wreath.
The whole ceremony was extremely moving and it should remain as a constant reminder against the futility of war but of the bravery of those who have given their lives in comflict.
